General
I've been sailing and racing in the San Francisco area since 1966. I fell in love with sailing as a kid, and it's been a passion ever since. I began racing in El Toros in 1967, began teaching in a junior program in 1970, and later got teaching certifications from both US Sailing and the American Sailing Association. In 1993 I enjoyed my first charter in the Caribbean, and have been back with students, friends, and family many times since.
Teaching
Since 1996 I've been teaching US Sailing and ASA certification courses including both group and private instruction. Along with certification courses, I've taught spinnaker handling, done Corporate Team building events, skippered charters on SF Bay, and have been the skipper & instructor on Caribbean charters.
Day Sailing & Cruising
I've enjoyed day sailing on the bay since the '70s, and love teaching about our wonderful and complex sailing environment. I've cruised the California Coast between Santa Barbara and Drakes Bay, and enjoyed the warmth and beauty of the Caribbean since 1993.
Racing & Race Coaching
I've raced many classes of dinghies since 1967, and have raced on keelboats from 20'-65' since the '70s.
In 2010 I was part of a team providing coaching for novice racers on a Farr 65 in Antigua Sail Week. The skipper was Brian Thompson (see BrianThompsonSailing.com).
In recent years I've been providing on board coaching and instruction, helping improve performance for my racing clients around the bay area.
